Shoreline Lumber: Stepping out of the box

Shoreline Lumber has a small town lumber yard feel with personalized service and quality service to boot.

At least that's the impression Owner Ron Paluck wants customers who visit his south Fort Myers warehouse to feel.

The business specializes in marine lumber, all types of decking materials, pilings and supplies.

"We are somewhat of a little hardware store that offers a lot more than you'd find at a regular box store," said Paluck, who owns the shop with his father Vic Paluck.

The Palucks opened Shoreline Lumber three years ago after purchasing an established lumber yard business that was up for sale.

"We wanted to be a smaller company that is family-owned with very good service that is personalized," Paluck said noting that he has been in sales for 13 years and his father has been a general contractor for 35 years.

Their combined experience was a perfect fit for a lumber yard hoping to service customers such as marine contractors, general contractors and homeowners with unique needs.

"We sell the bigger lumber type timbers plus regular construction materials as a convenience to our customers," Paluck said. "We also deliver same day or next day and can do freight forwarding if that's what's needed."

Shoreline Lumber recently expanded its offerings at its new showroom and warehouse off Kelly Road. The new building boasts a 3,000 square foot showroom that gives customers a chance to touch and familiarize themselves with Shoreline's merchandise.

"It's very customer friendly and it makes it easier for them to pick what they want and get a good idea of what it will look like," said Daryl Reardon, sales associate at the yard. "We are really sensitive to what customers need and you can't always get that elsewhere."

The lumber yard was once located on Fort Myers Beach but was moved because of the area's congestion and to serve more customers to the north.

"We feel like because we are small and are going to stay small we are going to give that better service in a timely manner," Paluck said. "... and give them ideas to help them with their projects."
