Inches-A-Weigh helps women lose

Janean Hogmire gets setup on a weight resistance machine at the Inches-A-Weigh weight loss center with assistance from John Kubicek. Hogmire is a first-time client of the center.

Losing weight in south Fort Myers is getting easier especially for members at the Inches-A-Weigh center at the Park Shops at Andrea Lane.

The weight loss center opened in early January and has already helped one woman walk without the assistance of a cane and several others looking slimer and healthier.

"We didn't want to start something that was a fad diet or that wasn't going to work forever ... our plan is about nutrition and exercise," said John Kubicek who helped his brother David open the center after losing weight and wanting to open a franchise. "Our program promotes health and once you've reached your goal ... you can continue to come."

Having a client reach their ideal weight is why David Kubicek opened the store that uses a three step program to get clients on the right track.

The program includes nutritional instruction, machines that use resistance to slim the body and cardio equipment that works on increasing metabolism.

"The thing about this program is that it's in steps and works on every aspect including behavioral changes and the difference between foods and what they can do," said David Kubicek, who ran a nutritional based chiropractic practice in Los Angeles for 20 years. "Our clients need motivation and it has to work because we believe in this program so much."

The program cost is based on each clients needs but every one is encouraged to attend a minimum of three exercise routines a week and agree to be weighed every week as well.

"We guarantee two and a half to two pounds lost per week and eight to 15 inches lost in the first three weeks," said David Kubicek, who has a nutritionist on site to assist clients. "The profile of our clients are procrastinators and excuse-makers and it's always a good time to get control of their diet and exercise."

The program, John Kubicek said, works well because it brings together women who might otherwise be intimidated by a gym atmosphere.

"It's a fun place to come and it's unlike other weight lost centers, you get the exercise all in one place," said John Kubicek, while setting up a first time client on a resistance machine. "We've had good success so far and one of our clients said this is the first time she hasn't used a cane in four years."

That level of accomplishment is what the Kubicek brothers hope will continue as their "family forever" grows.

"Weight is not one of those things that get's better by itself," David Kubicek said.
